Metropolitan

I love anything served in a martini glass except martinis. I also love a pretty drink. You know, one that looks like a brightly colored jewel. Or a piece of candy. Only, I don’t like ones that actually taste like candy. Which is a problem with many of the fun, fruity drinks that are served in martini glasses these days….

It all began with the Cosmopolitan. Like any woman of a certain age, I started drinking Cosmos thanks to “Sex & the City”. The problem was that I often found them too sweet. They’d wind up giving me a side of canker sores with my buzz. For awhile, I’d order them “dry” until I discovered the Metropolitan.

A Metropolitan is basically a tarter version of a Cosmo. This Metropolitan recipe uses Absolute Kurant vodka as its base which is part of what makes it less sweet. The result is a fun, refreshing cocktail that I can sort of convince myself is even good for me (thank you Cranberry juice).

This is also a good year round cocktail. Festive in the winter and thirst quenching in the summer. In short, delicious!
